reminder to take time to pray. It is set to an original folk like
melody, which is nothing less than stunning. Arranged for unaccompanied
Goin’ Home: A traditional spiritual coupled
with a jazz and gospel piano treatment, gives this beautiful text
new life. Arranged for voice and piano.4. Heav’n, Heav’n:
This popular spiritual has been for many generations, and is sometimes
know as I Got a Robe. The piano part is a duet partner to the
Fix Me Jesus: This arrangement is very simple
in nature, but carries a great weight. The longing in the text
has been emphasized in the accompaniment. Arranged for voice and
Ain’t-a Dat Good News: This traditional
spiritual is fun to sing. The piano part is equally fun to play.
Lay Down and Rest: A beautiful unaccompanied
duet written and arranged by Roosevelt Andre Credit. It speaks
to the beauty of death and a job well done on earth. Written for
two voices, or ensemble. This will be one of his best works.
God, I Pray: “Lucretia’s Prayer,”
is an example of how classical, jazz, and gospel music comes together
for the composer. It is an original prayer written for Roosevelt’s
sister. Some of the text includes; “Create in me a kind
and gentle spirit.” Arranged for voice and piano.
Just As I Am: This spiritual was often sung in
the church service at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church of Oakland,
California by the late Rev. J.L. Richards and congregation. It
is used during the “invitation” of the service and
people come to join the church. It is a traditional hymn with
non-traditional harmonies. Arranged for voice and piano, or congraional
Jesus Loves Me: This is another childhood favorite
arranged for two voices and piano. It can also be done with soloist
and chorus. Rhythmic jazzy feeling with canonic textures.
